Joe Saade

Joe Saade - Director of Photography

Joe Saade is a Lebanese cinematographer whose work includes fiction, documentary, and commercials. His interest in architecture and faces informs his work as a DOP and filmmaker. Joe enjoys fluctuating between working on big sets and with minimal crews.
His latest feature work includes Joyland (Jury award Cannes Un certain regard 2022 ) Directed by Saim Sadiq - Costa Brava: Lebanon (2021-official selection Orrizonti Venice Film Festival - TIFF...) Directed By Mounia Akl - Broken Keys (2020-official selection Cannes...) Directed by Jimmy Keyrouz.
Some of his earlier work includes short films Submarine (Official Selection at the 69th Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival), El Gran Libano (Directors’ Fortnight at the 70th Cannes Film Festival) both directed by Mounia Akl, The President’s Visit by Cyril Aris (TIFF 2017) and feature documentaries The Workers Cup by Adam Sobel (Sundance 2017) and Underdown by Sarah Kaskas (IDFA 2018). Submarine was the recipient of a KODAK award for excellence in Cinematography. 

He's currently in pre-production and post-production on several projects including feature film (It's a Sad and Beautiful world) directed by Cyril Aris to be filmed in Spring 2024. 

Joe is based in Beirut, from which he has traveled for work to the United States, United Kingdom, the Brazilian Amazon, Egypt, Turkey, Kenya, Oman,Germany, Pakistan for shoots that have ranged from architecture projects to workers' rights, from fiction to fashion, and from comedy to drama.
